What information we collect, use, and why

  • Questions, queries, or feedback you leave, including your email address and phone number if you contact us or reply to one of our newsletters. This is so we can deal with complaints and answer questions as required.
  • Your email address and subscription preferences when you sign up for our emails. This is so we can deliver emails and send you relevant information if you opt in.
  • Your survey responses, including data on racial or ethnic origin, and sexual orientation information, when you fill in our research surveys. This is so we can find out more about LGBTQ+ involvement in football to design effective campaigns for change.
  • Information on how you use our website, using cookies, Facebook Pixels, and Google Analytics. This is so we can make sure our website and content is working well so we can have greater impact.

Our basis for storing your data

We need a legal justification for storing your data.

Most of the time this is through gaining your consent. This is the basis for storing your email address, subscription preferences, account details and survey responses.

Some of the time, we store your data because it's in your legitimate interest for us to do so. This is why we store your questions, queries, and feedback – so we can respond accordingly and deliver for you. It's also why we store information on how you use our website – so we can make sure everything is working as it should for you.

How long we keep information

We'll only store your data for as long as necessary. You can tell us to delete your data at any time.

  • For email subscribers, we'll store your data for a year after you unsubscribe.
  • For survey participants, we'll store your personal data for five years after the survey closes. This is so we can get make sure research has as big an impact as possible. After this, we'll anonymise the data. You can always fill our surveys in anonymously.
